Ask LarryAnswer #16Answered August 30, 2026

What will we do with the pending lawsuit regarding Leslie Rule?

Larry says

Regardless of how we are involved, I favor settling the lawsuit to stop the financial drain and restore mutual respect on the Council, provided we update any municipal policies and account for the legal precedents involved. If the Council continues spending instead, leadership needs to give taxpayers all the reasons why prolonging that spending is better for the city than settling. Then maybe my opinion changes.

Going forward, I expect direct, proactive, unreserved guidance from the City Attorney to make sure our legal strategy genuinely safeguards public funds and prevents future liability.
